Digital Memory Palace

Tish and Andy's wedding at Port Douglas - had to laugh as Alicia ran down the isle loudly exclaiming "AJ!" while pulling her dress up.  Afterwards we watched her run to the nearby park as Andy tried to chase her down. Evening reception at The Oaks, where we sat on a deck surrounded by a pond full of fish. I spent most of the night talking to John and Holly who were closest to me, and a guy Peter who's wife is good friends with Tish - and works in IT at Datacom and knew my name from Icon. Couldn't recall when/how we came across each other, however.

Picked up Justine from Cairns airport - then drove to Kuranda for lunch. Then the winding drive to Port Douglas for the next few days. Checked into an amazing airbnb, with it's own pool - backing onto the golf course here.

Coffee at Alex's in the morning - before he dropped us off at the airport and we flew to Cairns. There was a large group waiting for the hire car transfer bus, so we had to wait for the second bus. Got lunch at the main shopping centre - eating it in the car as AJ slept. Walked the esplanade in the afternoon, AJ enjoying walking along the logs that line the edge of the path before the large drop down to the water.

Long day in handover with Cehrin and Raj at work - trying to get ready for my break. Spent the night at home relaxing, watching "Work Christmas Party" on Netflix to unwind.

Dad called after work - wanted my help wording his resignation letter. Tiz and I had to talk him through how to approach both the letter and discussion, and it's going to be difficult for him.

Bridge to Brisbane in the morning - ran a new 10k PB of 45:43. Ran home, showered - then drove back to pickup Julie. Picked up AJ from Dad & Tiz's , then home to see Adam, Dhalia, and Kenzie who came over and we played with the VR headset.

Drove to Stylish Wheels at Slacks Creek to get my wheels ordered. They were busy, so I went to IKEA and had breakfast (first time eating at IKEA), got some cube storage for AJ - then went back to sort the wheels out. After lunch parents group at a house at Newmarket, then to dad's to drop AJ off. He gave me a leather jacket, then we drove his M3 to The Belvedere at Woody Point for dinner.

Walked to Julie's work to get her car to pickup AJ - as she was going to her work awards. The spare key was out of battery, tried calling her, used the phone at reception - so walked to pickup AJ. Julie called me and drove to pick us up from daycare, then we dropped her at work, then got Maccas on the way home for dinner.

Introduced my manager readme to Cehrin and Raj today. After work I went to the Agile Meetup on resilient teams presented by Nanja, andnmet Nate and Sam. Then I changed at the David Jones centre into running gear, and ran home.

Home for the last race of the GT3 season - Julie was watching 'The Bachelor' with her headphones while working on a presentation. Finished 19/22 - but was overall happy, as I didn't make any particularly horrible mistakes, and did a few good battles throughout. AJ woke up really upset - wouldn't come to me, forced Julie to finish her work.

First run after being sick - ran a 4:30m/km 5km loop to prepare for Bridge to Brisbane this week. Did some practice laps on Phillip Island for the GT3 race tomorrow, and got a call from Dave Boyle and talked to him while I practiced. Mid-practice, AJ came out with his fox teddy - and I took him to bed with Julie.

Caught up with Aaron White, he's worked for Deloitte out at BOQ - was good to catch up on and see him doing well, and share the stories of Temando. Got AJ to eat a baked eggs and sausage dinner by telling him it was cookie cake, and quickly stuffing it into his mouth.

Julie went out to Tish’s hens party - so I had AJ with me. We went to the museum to see the NASA exhibit, then walked into the city mall to get a smoothie and some bread top - AJ stuffed the custard bun in his mouth.

Birthday lunch for Jon at a winery at the bottom of O'Reilly's at the Gold Coast - surprised him with a card game ('You've got crabs!') in a 2080 RTX box as a joke. The boys fed alpacas, and we did wine tasting

Last day at work for Matt Vogel in DevOps - caught him and Joel after lunch at the pub for a quick chat and a glass of water (still sick, so not drinking) The afternoon in the office saw him obliterate himself - and by 4pm he was vomiting in a bin beside Joel

Dave confirmed he found an RTX video card I could use to prank Jon for his birthday - organised to pick it up in the evening. Went to work - first day back after 5 days at home sick. Was wrecked, completely forgot about picking up the box with Dave.

Went to the Brickhouse with Dave Foster, he confirmed he's back to health and training often again - and we started talking about study and I gave him some ideas. Went to Chermside to get Jon a present for his birthday - bought the 'You've got crabs' card game.

Second day home sick - spent it learning to skin cars in Assetto Corsa, and finished my first skin on a Mk1 Escort for Kif and I to represent Queensland with a 'Drop Bear' skin paying homage to Bundaberg Rum. Evening was the GT3 race at Suzuka where I went in feeling good about my chances after good practice, but I was well off the pace - and made lots of silly mistakes in the car.

Stayed home from work sick - first time in a very long time. Ba Ngoi came around to cook us lunch and help with AJ. Walked to the park in the afternoon with AJ, but neither of us felt well enough to play and just walked home.

Another day battling a cold - stayed in bed late, then gave Julie a break by taking AJ to Southbank for a walk/scooter. Pushed him on his scooter from GOMA to the park, my back felt horrible by the time I got there from being canted over to the side. He tried to climb up to the slide, but the slope was too steep for him.

Didn't get any sleep - super snotty and sick. Tim's birthday party at Albany Creek, saw a lot of people I haven't seen for ages. Aunty Sharon, Aunty Deb, Kerry, Ian, David & Ken. Home to give Jess and Matt my tiramisu to take to Abilio's, which I cancelled as we were too sick.

Half day at work - taking AJ, and Julie (who came with me - sick) to the ENT to get the final check on his ears. All was OK. Gym after work - first time Adrian came with Luci, Ric, and myself to the gym. Beer at range after, then I gave Ric a lift to the train station.

First day doing an inception deck and user story mapping with Kelvin on the new direction - felt good to get some feedback and focus for a change.

Julie had an obstetrician appointment at 4pm, and we'd talked about me going to get AJ if she was running late. I didn't hear from her, so walked in the rain to AJ's day care - getting a hold of Julie just before I got there to tell me it's been moved. I sat at the bottom of his daycare and looked at the Ekka setting up - then called Paul the recruiter back to discuss things.

Ran after work with a cold to the Story Bridge and back - then came home. Later in the night Mitchel Saad turned up to borrow our stand mixer, and we chatted about his Dad leaving Pivotel and cars.

Walking home and noticed Tom in the driveway, awkwardly balanced talking to him while I talked to Julie on the phone. Then watched the Hungaring GP - Verstappen lead most of the race, then Hamilton got him just at the end. Was interesting to watch them race on the track that I'd only just raced on myself the week prior with the SimXP guys.

Woke up sick - went to Alex's to see Nath, Slav, Bec, and Alex. Finished PoE on hardcore for the first time with my Flame Totem build.

Took AJ on the scooter to Cafe Gia, then around to the park. Alex and Bec brought Vietnamese around for lunch - it was from Banoi.

Trip to GO1 for a coffee with Thomas, caught Nathalie as she arrived too. Lunch with Shaun - talked about writing and coaching. Evening our second power lifting session with Luci and Ric - started our 5x5 training.

Called Nan to tell her about baby #2 on the way - AJ talked to her a bit, and then I went and laid in our bedroom to chat to Nan about mum's behaviour. I tried to put AJ to sleep while Julie watched 'The Bachelor' that's started again - he cried for ages, only falling asleep just after 8:30pm
