Digital Memory Palace

Busy afternoon trying to find a lock at kmart at Toowong - nearly hit the pole in the Tesla. Gave up, and ended up on my flight after getting stuck in a very long line.

Big roadmap planning session with all teams focused on the H1 goal of admin migration - struggled to make progress in some ways, but ultimately I think it created the alignment we needed. 

Talked to Sylvia from work in the US about our partner - she told me about her twins. 

Geremy was back at soccer - first time I'd seen him in forever, and first after fat camp. We lost horribly - I parked on the opposite side of the road, up around the corner. Had to check my position multiple times backing in. 

Working in the office catching up while the family went to the city with Huss - had to live vicariously via the photos of them at the Brisbane sign. 

Cleaned up the linen cupboard - got storage boxes and made it all neat.  Ran a half marathon after the week of Byron runs to build endurance and strength. My legs we were knackered.  Huss came over for dinner - tried to find a book to show him, but couldn't find it. 

Drove back from Byron - had to stop for Julie to poo, and noticed the charging stalls in the BP carpark. We had a BBQ with the hot sauce I brought home. 

Took the kids to the farm to feed the animals. Had fun doing hand stands and cartwheels, while teaching them the 'stacks on' concept.

Went for dinner and had the tomohawk steak followed by a poker night. Watched Brett wind by blindly going all in.

Battled the wind and debris on the road to go to Mynion Falls. Was worried about the car, but it seemed OK. Felt bad about buying the last pies for lunch.  Had chicken parmis for dinner - and old man fell over at the counter as we left. 

Took the boys to the beach - they naturally stripped off and ran into the surf. I got a cold press coffee from a muscled up guy that looked and sounded like the sword fighter from The Princess Bride Later, we walked the light house. It got dark, and Brett and I walked the path down to get the cars. 

Took the kids to the pie shop and circus - watched the worker swinging on thr trapeze trying to catch the kids. The coffee was served in a regular mismatched mug.

The girls went to the spa and tattoo parlour while we stayed home with the kid playing video games as it rained. Managed to get out for a run to the lighthouse, encountering a snake along the path.

Took the kids to swimming to Julie could pack, then drove down to Byron Bay - first time charging the car to 100%. Ordered Korean, got chicken that was sadly not very spicy. 

Long day - followed by drinks with Prags at the powerhouse. Was great to hear about his Scottish travels, and it gave me a chance to vent a little. 

Good session with Ben M on roles and what we think about tagging them. Aligned well, and was nice to catch up with him again. 

Session with Tara on the HTML template for this marketing email. Her figma template was pretty, but Intercom didn't want to ingest it. 

Got Oscar up to speed on the Beam 2.0 work, but it turned out Shangzhi and Eric needed something similar, so he opted to take point. 

Helped the team with MS teams troubleshooting. It was the first time I've worked with Kim

Jas and Tim both came around for afternoon tea - dad was invited but told me he was our shopping. In reality, he was out in the Mustang.

Took Kai out for a daddy day while AJ was at a birthday party. Went to Alex's, before heading off to Chermside for him to check out toys - before we caught up with Julie who was waiting on AJ to finish up at Kingpin.

Session with Jon and the director on Engineering tenants and holding our seniors to higher standards. Was a struggle to stay silent. 

Used AI to generate a doc in real time on how CPs should authenticate when using our public API. Blew the mind of the attendees 

Origin at the top of Cloudland - watching on a horrible interlaced screen. Just kept getting sold on things - ran out of pizza, then domino's arrived. NSW came back and it was close, but lost. 

GMC on the seniors - lots were in the top right, that had to be corrected down. 

Session with Ann on roles and responsibilities - slowly breaking through with her. 

Enzos party at Frew Park - laughed as Kai kept on sprinting across the field and back with his bright red shorts.

Took the boys to the games exhibition at The Powerhouse. The couple that developed the Slime game seemed chuffed when Kai and AJ were the first to vote for their game.

First performance calibration - everyone as pretty frustrated with the approach HR was taking, and what that meant for where people landed. Chau dm'd me to help chime in

PEDD leaders debrief after the retro of retros on Learn release. We generally aligned on what we saw - and took some good actions. 

Late call to sort out data retention with GB and Natalia. She gave a lovely compliment that her team had been thankful for my support.

Spoke to the teachers from local schools and the ACS contact about the company and what we do. They were lovely - even the quirky teacher with bright shirt and a bow tie. 

Reviewed the tracking proposed by Khanh - we could align on future vision, but we agreed to let COD go ahead as is 

Dave Boyle and Dennis came over for coffee and to give Dave the water-cooler. Took the Tesla for a blast up the mountain.  Did a long run listening to the podcast on Nintendo - it sounded exactly like Notebook LLM. I thought I broke the tap next to the skate bowl at the Enchanted Forrest, but it just took ages to turn off. 

Took the car on its first real road trip up to Woodford. Got stuck on a dirt road to Mt Ngungun. It was the boys first time properly climbing a mountain - they did well with all the stone steps.

Retro of retros on the Learn release - slow start, but good discussion by the end. Was annoyed that the primary team involved didn't prep and present anything. 

Got our big partner on the call to show off the player technology we'd been baking for the last year. They were cautious, but open - so I was pleased. 

Brighton was on site to pull up the carpet an fix the floor - also got the roadworthy. The roadworthy failed due to the rear tint and washer. Found the washer pipe was broken, and the tint I removed - interesting, it looked almost no different without it. 

Picked up the Tesla from Solar style thinking it might be the only one - I found three others there getting coated. 

Initial session on statsig issues - the new Thanh was a great input to the session. 

Picked up cakes and went to dads house to celebrate his birthday - he tried to get us to take the rich chocolate pie.

Picked up the Tesla - I was stuck waiting for the sales person for some time, before driving home in the pouring rain.  Mum came around - and I took her to Les Miserables, which had amazing large bearded man as the lead singer. 

Ran through the campaign options with Grace and Kristina - established a plan of attack using a mix of Intercom and Beam data. 

Catch up with Shalinee who was seeking some input for what to get the team onto - it was nice to be brought back into the fold. 

Riya came around to look at the Skoda - they liked it, and gave me an offer of $11k straight after. I noticed the unusual behaviour of the husband showing me his license, but the wife didn't. I brushed it off - but felt I should have checked. 

Whiteboard session with CH in the office on Beam Context - it was nice doing in person ideation again. 

Long session to get the data residency PRD done - felt good to finally clear that from. My backlog. 

Day to relax - used it to just unwind, play some games with AJ, go for a run - and then make bagels with Kai, who had been asking about making bagels all week. 

Drove up to mums house to sort out the internet - turns out both the router was a bitch, but also the password was wrong. I then rushed home to cook dinner for the Atari's - very frustrated that Julie was late, but also had her key run out of battery. 

Session with a vendor on their insights product. We talked a lot and I enjoyed it - but I saw limited progress.

Had the air conditioned service - pretty fat young guy. I had no idea how he fit into man hole covers. Had a meeting with a tech co founder for a product we were churning from. He used the word "bro" in a condescending way.  Showed Morgane how to create her own AI agent for alternatives. 

Had prepared for the Voice of Market call with a presentation - but didn't get time to present it. Had to record and share it. 

Picked up the boys from Tennis - a rarity for me as Julie was at the hospital with her mum getting her final eye surgery. AJ had left his tennis racket on the court. 

Long chat with Kristina - debriefed on the challenges of the Learn launch. Felt good - as we seemed really in sync on how I can help. 

Took the kids to Dreamworld for the first time - first time AJ went on a roller-coaster that went upside down. We all went on the jungle coaster, I turned around to see how scared he was as we went backwards inside the rotisserie.

Swimming cancelled for some reason for both boys. Took Kai to the park when Julie took AJ to a birthday party. Den came with Maya, and noticed a rocker looking lady that I thought looked familiar. Turns out - she's a friend of Den.  The kids climbed the tree with mud beneath. 

More crunch for the Learn release, stayed home because I felt contagious - conked out by midday after Jon pushed me to get offline. 

Learn release day - lots of issues. Had to jump in and troubleshoot after a super long day. Felt absolutely wrecked. 

Woke up really sick - spent the day sleeping after the resurgence of the cold for the previous week. Felt like covid - just spaced out and exhausted. 

Discussion on the accoutId usage - fair concerns from Oscar on external ids, but I disagreed with him on the urgency to do that now. 

Long session with Chris on health - looking at his session concepts and sliders on avg of users. 

Revamped the garage - moving things around so the bikes had more space and the charger was more accessible

Mothers day visit to Alex's with mum for a coffee  AJ helped me build his computer - he quickly picked up how it all worked. He spent the day playing fortnite. Movie night at Kieran's to watch Honey I Shrunk The Kids - was late to turn up after it looked like it wasn't on. Turns out, it was just moved inside the garage.

Rushed out to give Mark a lift to the city - swinging by Computer Alliance for a new motherboard for AJ's pc. Stuck testing keyboards while we waited. 

Rebrand launch call - was a pretty terrible showing by the TPM coordinating. 

Had Mark over from dinner after he flew in from Perth. Got AJ from care, which is unusual - then grabbed pizza.  We spent most of the night playing on the sim. 

Recalibration on GTM systems call - good to see focus on SFDC data, but a shame at what's being paused to achieve it. 

Wellness day - finished building the server after the second, 120mm radiator, arrived. Took the boys to the payne road pump track - the first time Kai managed to make it around a pump track. There was mud everywhere.

Put that old X570 aboard into AJ's computer - just couldn't get it reliable. Built the server, and realised the radiator wouldn't fit - so had to order a smaller one.

Visited the Seppanen's to build the 7800x3d - so much easier this time. Excess kfc for dinner. 

Demo from the reforge team - cool to jump on a call with Brain, I rally enjoy his thought leadership on Product. 

Session with the CP from New Jersey and Wales. Showed them our multi language capabilities - they didn't know we had. 

Pest control came around and checked things out - nothing to report, and told me to use bunnings products for the ants. 

Session with Laura on her comms work and feedback on Gainsight - she was pretty vocal with her thoughts given she was leaving this week. 

Took Julie our to look at EVs, she drove the Sealion 7, Model Y, and Polestar 4. Still couldn't make a decision - but we had lunch, voted, and picked the kids up from school.

Took the boys to their first ever kids park run - they both did great, poor Kai having to walk a bit. We got them pancakes and hash browns afterwards. 

Watched the kids chase a man dressed as  Harry Potter with candy strapped to him, as part of Sophia's birthday. Talked to Tatiana and her partner for the first time about the challenges of the lot 29 build.

Den came over for a coffee - we had a little nerf war with Maya, before he measured up the hallway seat and bag rack. 

Met Mari for the first time with Anna to talk Gainsight - only to learn she was leaving in 2 days. Still had a good session on comms and usage. 

Late session with Morgane to work through the Decom mitigation for the CPs.

Took the boys to see The Minecraft movie - it was dead, which was surprising for the holidays Sat in the back with the walkway in front of us

Caught up with Nikk for the first time since he went to DevOps - good to hear about him preparing his move to AU. 

Played putt putt with the boys - was hot in the midday sun, but we made it through. Kai struggled with the heat, and wa laying on the ground.
